Graduate Research Assistantship, Postdoctoral and other
The Plant Genomics, Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratories at
Southern Illinois University
The
Plant Genomics, Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratories,
Southern Illinois University is seeking qualified individuals
interested in obtaining an M.S. or a Ph.D. degree. Two positions
are available until a suitable candidate is found. The
assistantships provide a monthly stipend (~$1130 US per month)
and tuition waiver.
The successful
candidate will conduct research on Genomics, Para-genetics and
Bioinformatics with an emphasis on Gene Silencing or Plant
Microbe Interactions; with more focus on soybean disease
resistance genes to the cyst nematode (Heterodera
glycines).
The research involves the use of recombinant DNA techniques, as
well as BAC libraries screening, chromosome walking, vectors
design, sequencing, microarray and Bioinformatics.
Students with
backgrounds in Genetics, Gene mapping, Genomics, botany, or
molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Applicants with some
experience in molecular biology, genomics, genetic mapping may
