Dr.Khalid Meksem

Dr. Meksem’s research laboratory is focused on the development and refinement of genomic resources and technologies for functional and structural analysis of plants and pathogen genomes, with applications to soybean and its pathogens. [Fungi (SDS: Fusarium virguliforme) and Nematodes (SCN: Heterodera glycines)]. Through an NSF funded project, the Meksem,s lab played an essential role in the development of the first genome-wide, BAC/BIBAC-based physical map of the soybean genome

Dr. Meksem's lab developed a TILLING platform for soybean functional analysis.

In collaboration with the private sector, the Meksem's lab provided for the whole genome physical map of the phytopathogenic fungus Ustilago maydis, used by Bayer CropScience to sequence the whole fungus genome.

Thanks to the following agencies for funding my research (NSF, USB, C-FAR, ISPOB and SIU)
